OVERVIEW Survival of the fittest never applied to a species more than it did to the myths of old. Legends relegated to the backdrop of the rising power of humanity, the status quo changed almost abruptly for creatures of all kind. Discrimination, oppression, abuse, experimentation, and more were the lives that myths had come to expect at the best. Talia's pack preferred to disengage from human society rather than endure such atrocities, though their isolation could be considered an atrocity of it's own. Survival became harder for the pack as more of their lands were taken from them and turned into sprawling cityscapes. Over time, this bred a need withing the pack: only the strong were worthy of life, the weak were nothing. Thus, Talia was born to a near barbaric pack of werewolves that literally forced their children to fight for their survival. Any child turning 13 in any given year was put to the Trials. In the Trials, children participating were paired up and given no option but to fight to death. Refusal meant both children were weak, and both were killed. Talia was raised on the belief that she had to be strongest, so she pushed herself to her very limits. CW: child abuse, child death, underage sexual abuse, forced pregnancy She never imagined that in the Trials she'd be paired against her sister. Talia had refused to raise a hand to Emilia, but Emilia was not so honorable. Em had always been small and weak, pegged to fail the Trials from an early age. So when Talia refused to fight, Emilia took her chance to try to secure her position in the pack. Backed into a corner, Talia had no choice but to fight or die. Following the Trials, Talia struggled with the mantra that had been her pack's answer to the hardships myths endure: only the strong survive. Where she had spent her entire life building up to be one of the strong, she found out the hard way the cost of attaining and maintaining such strength. She also learned that the pack defined "strength" differently when one became an adult, and soon Talia found it hard to fall in line with her pack. Seeing her anger, hatred and resentment grow, the pack began to define Talia was "weak" for not being able to stomach what it took to become strong. END CW Fearing for her life, Talia fled her pack halfway through her 14th year. She spent a year living on the streets, begging and fighting for food and shelter, until finally a representative from the Mythian Academy reached out to her. At 15, Talia found herself enrolled at Mythian Academy, dreaming of the day she could go back to her pack and challenge her alpha herself. PERSONALITY "Only the strong survive." These words have been drilled into Talia's head since she was a child. They shaped her formative years, and no matter how hard she tries to shake them they've taken deep root in her heart. Talia dreams of one day making her pack a better one, a safe haven for werewolves of all kind. To do that, she knows she has to be better than the shackles that her pack's mantra have instilled in her. While not able to fully overcome her history, she does dream of doing better for future generations. However, the need to be the strongest runs deep in Talia's veins. Showing weakness is the last thing she ever wants to do, though she has worked hard to redefine strength as best she can in her head. Because of her dreams and her pack, Talia holds herself to a higher standard than she does anyone else. However, this is only in terms of personality. In terms of hygiene and lifestyle, these things tend to fall short on her list of values. Used to living in the wild and on the streets, Talia can tend to let her lifestyle become a bit of a mess. It's this kind of chaos that enunciates the chaos in her own head. Yet she tries to live every day like that it's the gift she killed her sister to win. ABILITIES Talia is a werewolf.
